Job Summary:

To work within our Projects department, reporting to the Projects Programme Manager. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of projects related to wastewater treatment systems, including civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation elements. This often includes projects under AMP (Asset Management Period) frameworks for water utilities.

Typical Projects You May Manage:

  • Wastewater treatment site upgrades
  • Improving or replacing existing assets across all areas of process, including:
    • Biological Treatment
    • Aeration
    • Filtration
    • Settlement
    • Flow measurement
    • Pumping Stations
    • Screening
    • Chemical dosing and mixing
    • Storm Storage
    • Spill/pollution/flood mitigation
  • Associated PLC/SCADA system integration works including hardware and software replacements and upgrades.

Responsibilities:

Project Delivery:
Manage multiple projects across the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Stakeholder Management:
Act as the main point of contact between the client (e.g., Thames Water, Severn Trent), contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
Manage communication with all relevant stakeholders to ensure suitability and operability of delivered solutions. 

Technical Oversight:
Maintain an overview and responsibility for all engineering disciplines - Mechanical, Electrical, ICA, and Civils In terms of both design and project delivery.
Review and approve General Arrangement drawings, Control Philosophies, P&IDs, process flow diagrams, functional design specifications, PLC/SCADA designs, etc.

Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ):
Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001.
Champion a strong safety culture across sites.

Financial Management:
Manage project budgets and forecasts.
Submit Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events as appropriate.
Approve variations and ensure cost control.

Construction & Commissioning:
Coordinate installation, commissioning, and handover of assets.
Preparation of documentation packs including RAMS, Programmes, construction phase plans, specifications, and schedules.
Ensure all required documentation is in place.
Resolve site challenges and technical issues during construction.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in water and/or wastewater treatment processes.
  • A strong background in Mechanical, Electrical, ICA, or Civils engineering in water/wastewater environments with an ability and willingness to understand and manage all disciplines
  • Understanding of Water Industry Standards (WIMES)
  • Knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., NEC3/4).
  • Experience with risk, quality, and change management.
  • Stakeholder and multidisciplinary team management.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with attention to detail.
  • CSCS Card
  • Full Driving License
  • APM, PRINCE2, or PMP certification
  • IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS, or NEBOSH certification.

Electrical/ICA Design and Commissioning Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical/ICA Design and Commissioning Engineer to join our team to oversee the commissioning, start-up, and handover of wastewater treatment plants and associated infrastructure. The role involves ensuring that mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with design specifications, regulatory requirements, and project timelines.

The work will be varied and predominantly based in the South East (Kent, London, Essex, Sussex and Hampshire).

Responsibilities:

Commissioning Planning & Execution

  • Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules for wastewater treatment facilities
  • Oversee and coordinate pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities for mechanical, electrical, and process systems
  • Perform functional testing, troubleshooting, and system validation to ensure compliance with design and performance specifications
  • Supervise installation quality and readiness for commissioning

Technical Support & Supervision

  • Provide technical guidance to contractors, subcontractors, and operations teams during commissioning
  • Support factory and site acceptance testing (FAT & SAT) of equipment and control systems
  • Lead or participate in punch list management and resolution

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain commissioning reports, test records, checklists, and turnover packages
  • Ensure all documentation complies with project requirements and regulatory standards

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with design engineers, contractors, vendors, and client representatives to resolve technical issues
  • Support training of plant operations and maintenance staff on new systems and processes

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)

  • Ensure commissioning activities comply with HSEQ policies and procedures
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to commissioning and start-up activities

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field
  • 3–7 years of experience in commissioning and start-up of wastewater treatment plants or similar process facilities
  • Strong knowledge of water/wastewater treatment processes, pumps, valves, instrumentation, PLC/SCADA systems, and process controls
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, control logic diagrams, and engineering drawings

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Wastewater Service Engineer to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair wastewater treatment systems and equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical and technical background, customer-facing experience, and the ability to work independently in the field.

The work will be varied and predominantly based in the South East (Kent, London, Essex, Sussex and Hampshire).

Responsibilities:

  • Install, commission, and service wastewater treatment equipment (e.g., pumps, blowers, valves, filtration systems)
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical components
  • Troubleshoot system faults and diagnose operational issues at customer sites
  • Provide technical support and training to operators and clients
  • Ensure systems are operating in compliance with safety and environmental standards

We are seeking a technical professional within the wastewater industry. You will work within our Operations Department to oversee projects relating to our hire equipment offering. You will predominantly coordinate with multiple teams and project manage the hire process to ensure the project is on schedule and within budget. Quality assurance is an important aspect of this role and will involve monitoring and examining our current hire process to ensure that it meets the required standards.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter that is confident in reviewing current processes and implementing new to develop and grow the current hire offering.
